Is it against the law for a lifetime registered sex offender to have a profile page on myspace or facebook?

I live in Indy, and I know of someone that is a lifetime notification on the Indiana sex offender list, and they have a profile page on facebook. I have already reported them to facebook, but I was curious if this was against the law for them to do?
Does it make any difference if the crime was for child molestation?

The short answer is that nobody knows. The general consensus is that it is probably not against the law. There has only been one test case (testing whether violating a ToS constitutes access 'without authorization' or 'in excess of' authorization for purposes of Federal computer crime laws) and that case was thrown out after a conviction. (That was the Lori Drew case, involving a violation of MySpace terms of service that played a role in Megan Meier's suicide.)
