Is marriage about connecting sex to love, babies, mothers, and fathers?

Fact: 38 percent of American babies are born to single mothers, placing them at risk in poverty, health, school achievement, criminal behavior, and capability for friendships and future marriage.

Fact: There has been a surge in illegitimate parenting in the last 5 years, when sexual liberals began equating homosexual relations with marriage.

The emerging view is that marriage is not something sacred, bringing together male and female in service of family and future, but an artifice of government, to be redistributed for legal, political purposes.

Question: Should we try to reestablish the sanctity of marriage by reconnecting sex to love, babies, mothers, and fathers? If not, are we prepared as a body politic to take on the burden formerly assumed by married parents, to nurture and educate (or more likely, incarcerate) a major portion of the next generation?
