How important is sex to a man?

I have been reading article about how important sex is in order to fulfill a loving long lasting relationship. I love sex, especially the intimate feelings that I could only share with the one man I love. However, as a woman, I don't think I can fully understand how important sex really is to a man. It seems like to some men, sex is as important as water and air. They cannot live without it. Is it true? Serious answers please, thank you
